Welcome. My name is Isola Jacobs. I am a native of Tucson, Arizona and a member of the pioneer family Carillo-Jacobs. My great-grandfather Leopoldo Carrillo owned many adobe structures in the late 1800's. Including a home that he passed on to my grandmother, Bella Carrillo-Jacobs which is now a historical museum in downtown Tucson (Carrillo Fremont Home). This building is where my father, my oldest brother, and numerous family members were born. My grandfather E.A. Jacobs also owned several adobe structures. Back in the early 1900's, my father, Alfonso Carrillo-Jacobs built numerous adobe homes, not only for himself, but for other family members as well. Back then it was considered the material of choice and an entire family ordeal. From making mud to adobe bricks, to actual construction of homes, everybody in the family had a part in the process. I can literally say that adobe architecture has been in my blood since birth. |
